Last day of school

Collin's school holds an annual Christmas luncheon for all the teachers and staff on the last day before break. They request parent volunteers come to the school to watch over the classes while the teachers are at the luncheon. Of course, I volunteered not really considering what I was getting myself into.

It sank in at approximately the time I walked through the school doors that day. I do a lot of volunteering at the school and each time I am there I walk out thinking there is NO WAY I could do what those teachers do...especially the Kindergarten teachers. Somehow they manage to make order of chaos and I really am in awe of what they do. The panic set in when I received my assignment of the Kindergarten classroom. Dear Jesus what have I done?!?

So I realized that the thought of being in charge of 30 Christmas crazed Kindergartners at one time scared the holy hell out of me! There were 2 other parents assigned with me and it still scared me! Mrs.Johnson swore she put the fear of God in them that they better listen. Her last words were don't worry you'll be fine...just don't let any of them get out of the room.

Holy crap! There are 3 doors in that classroom and 3 parents! One goes to the 1st grade classroom, one to the hall and one OUTSIDE!! OMG each one of us needs to take a door and guard it with our lives! As I watched the three teachers walk out and the door close behind them, the room suddenly became very small, and loud, and CRAZY! Mrs. Wilson, can you help me with this, Mrs. Wilson, can you open this, Mrs. Wilson, he won't share, Mrs. Wilson I want to play with that, Mrs. Wilson I had an accident, Mrs. Wilson, I'm going to throw up, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Wilson...Mrs. Wilson? I want to curl up in a ball in the corner and bang my head on the wall until it's over!!

Not 5 minutes passed and I swore I saw the hall door open and a little head slip out into the hallway. Yep, one escaped already! Next tragedy, we didn't let the "song leader" start the song and she cried hysterically for 20 minutes. Then we went out of order and had the "packers" get their lunches before we said grace. It was pure anarchy! Thirty 5-6 year old yelling at us, telling us every little thing we did wrong-which by the way was everything. They were running everywhere like little mice! Calgon take me away!

On top of that it was pouring down rain so recess was supposed to be in the classroom. GREAT! Maybe they won't notice if I slip out now? Then the plan changed again! Buddy the elf, I mean the principal dressed as Buddy the Elf came in and told the Kindergartners to go to the gym for recess.

Oh boy! We didn't have the kids clean the classroom before lunch since we thought they were coming back for recess. The teachers would be back after recess so we had no time to clean the classroom. Our total lack of control would be evident to the teachers and they would probably lose their lunch walking back into that hell hole! Oh no!

We made it through lunch and recess with only 2 ice packs, 4 band aids and a wet pair of underwear. The teachers were very appreciative and didn't seem phased by tornado alley aka their classroom. Thank you Baby Jesus and get me out of there pronto!!

Ridin' the Polar Express

This year we rode the Polar Express at the Dennison Historical Train Depot with our playgroup friends. We decided to spend a little extra and rode in first class style!

Of course the boys always ride in style! They watched the Polar Express movie on the way of course!

Reading the Polar Express Story

Daddy photo bombed us!

Waving hi to the elves in the North Pole

We picked up Santa in the North Pole and headed back.

Santa signed Collin's book. So did Mrs. Claus and even an elf!

Tyler did the limbo down the aisle-too funny!

Here's the whole crew!

And the Wilsons-Merry Christmas

Kindergarten Christmas Program

I was so very excited to see Collins Christmas performance at school. I stayed after I dropped him off because I wanted to make sure that I had front row seats.

Finally, after waiting an hour and a half the little angels arrived in the library to entertain us. Collin is walking in, attempting to hold hands with his classmate, but she'll have nothing to do with that.

And as the show begins all the beaming parents look on with wide smiles watching their little performers. Yep, there is Collin yawning while his classmates sing their hearts out.

We did get a little teeny bit of action from him. Blink and you'll miss it!
 but mostly we got this...

this,

                                                          a lot of this,

a little "oh, what are you guys doing"/

the embarrassed Charlie Brown shrug and head shake, then covering of the eyes

oh yeah, and this! A bonus I guess!

Seriously?????? Of course, all the parents commented on how he stole the show and was so funny...all the same things I would say to the parent when I was really thinking "what is that kids problem" or "oh his poor mother" LOL!!

One parent was even kind enough to post a video clip on YouTube. Here's the link, check it out.

Oh Christmas Tree

Well, we made it back to Timbuk Farms this year to cut down our Christmas tree. As you can see Tyler is
about as tall as Santa's crotch this year! I couldn't get him to stand in front of the ruler part so I  guess we will be measuring his growth anatomically until further notice.

Tyler made his choice but we decided to go with this instead.

How many Wilsons does it take to cut down a Christmas tree? 4 obviously! I helped too-just couldn't get a picture of myself.

And off we go with the perfect tree!

Tyler was not so keen on Santa. He sort of sat there frozen and looking down. Almost like he was thinking if I don't look at him this freak will stop petting my head. Collin had a great time. Anything that makes Tyler miserable or unhappy typically has the opposite effect on Collin.

Yes, we tied the tree to the top of the van backwards and yes it almost flew off. A fellow driver was so concerned that at a stoplight, less than a mile from home, he put his car in park and ran up to let me know it was falling off. Thank you good Samaritan, I know, but what fun would it be to fix it now? It will be so much more entertaining to let it fall off and drag it home bouncing behind the car by a string. No such luck, we made it home without incident...

Until we tried to get in the house! We may have overestimated the height of our ceiling. The tree had to get a severe trim and as a bonus we have some nice new pine sap skid marks on our ceiling. I LOVE Christmas!

And here is the finished product! Where are the ornaments you ask? In a box where they belong! I have a soon to be two year old hellion elf running loose in my house! Adding anything shiny and breakable within 6 feet of the floor would be pure foolishness on my part!

I think it looks beautiful just the way it is!! Merry Christmas

Trick or Treat

This year we were invited to Alexis and Gregg's for Trick or Treat. The whole Collins clan headed to GC for some candy grabbin fun.

Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and rainy so it was a quick trip!

Collin wanted to be Urban Meyer for halloween. Saved us some money! Lol!
Tyler was Frankenstein. Somehow I failed to get a decent picture of him- probably because he was bundled up under 20 layers of blankets! Bad mommy!

Found one-not a great one but it will do!

I'm hoping some day we can get a picture of Tyler without his mouth hanging wide open!lol!
